Thorough Care SA has joined forces with Horsemed SA – Morphettville Equine Clinic and Horsemed SA Hills Equine Clinic.
The new partnership with Horsemed SA will allow Thorough Care SA Assistance Pack recipients access to selected services and procedures at a 25% discount in the first year following retirement from racing.
With two locations Echunga and Morphettville, Horsemed SA are a dedicated team of highly qualified and experienced equine veterinarians and is widely considered one of South Australia’s Premier Equine Veterinary Services, treating horses of all ages, breeds and occupations.
The services and procedures available are:
- Dentals (including Sedation)
- Gastroscopies (includes standard sedation)
- Health checks (standard consult)
- Lameness examinations
- Sand X-rays
“The care of our thoroughbreds is a priority and to be able to offer recently retried horses access to subsidised services from Horsemed SA is fantastic,” said Racing SA’s Equine Welfare Coordinator Keely Rayson.
“The partnership will give horses across South Australia access to world class veterinary services which on top of everything else that is included in the Assistance Pack will give retired thoroughbreds in this state a great platform to make the transition off the race track," she said.
“Horsemed SA (Morphettville and Echunga) are very excited to partner with Thorough Care SA and Racing SA to provide long term care for retired thoroughbreds. We provide 24/7 care and have 40 years experience looking after horses of all types and we look forward to seeing more retired thoroughbreds across South Australia,” a Horsemed SA spokesperson said.
The Thorough Care SA Assistance Pack has been developed to assist thoroughbreds who have recently retired from racing to help them adapt to their new lives and careers.
The assistance packs are available to thoroughbreds that apply within three months of retirement, were domiciled, or had an active stable return in South Australia prior to retirement or raced in SA for the majority their careers (terms and conditions apply).
