Following a highly successful debut in 2022, Racing SA is excited to launch Thorough Care Month in July 2023.
Thorough Care Month celebrates all racehorses in South Australia, and features Racing SA’s continued commitment to thoroughbreds before, during and after their careers on the track.
Thorough Care Month will highlight the understanding and awareness among the wider racing community regarding best-practice in equine welfare while communicating our mission, goals and achievements in equine welfare.
“Since the launch of Thorough Care in 2021, our equine welfare initiatives have gone from strength-to-strength,” Racing SA Equine Welfare Officer Keely Rayson said.
“We are very proud of what we’ve achieved so far, and Thorough Care Month gives us another opportunity to educate and inform people on the high quality work we’re doing in the equine welfare space,” she said.
Thorough Care Month will highlight profiles on key members of the equine welfare community, feature videos on recently retired thoroughbreds and promote awareness of equine welfare campaigns.
Another key outcome of Thorough Care Month is to increase transparency surrounding equine welfare in South Australia.
The Thorough Care SA newsletter features stories and profiles of retired thoroughbreds, their owners and participants, event results and competitions.
