The October long weekend sees the Jamestown area bustling, with two major events taking place:

• Jamestown Racing Club annual meeting on the Saturday
• Jamestown Show on the holiday Monday.

These two events create a weekend of fun and entertainment in a relaxed country setting.

The Jamestown Racing Club will be holding its annual race day on the Saturday of the 2009 October long weekend, being Saturday 3 October this year. The Club appreciates major sponsorship from Lion Nathan which is reflected in the principal race being the 2009 XXXX Gold Jamestown Cup. For the first time the Club will be offering in excess of $30,000 in prizemoney with stakemoney for the 2009 XXXX Gold Jamestown Cup advertised at $8,000. The Club will again offer patrons a 6 event card with the first race usually programmed for just after 1:00pm. As in previous years patrons will be able to access full TAB facilities on course including a local tote on the Jamestown races. The Jamestown race meeting coincides with Epson day at Royal Randwick and Turnbull Stakes day at Flemington thus ensuring highly competitive support programs for punters. In another first for the Jamestown Racing Club new aluminium running rails have been erected during the year. The Club has secured the running rails which were previously part of the Victoria Park Racecourse and they now take centre stage at Jamestown.
