Gytrash 'jumping out of his skin' for Classique Legend Stakes

Gordon Richards believes star SA sprinter Gytrash can bounce back from his Everest disappointment in the $1m Classique Legend Stakes (1300m) in Sydney.

Gytrash claimed last year’s edition and Richards said the horse had overcome the issues discovered after running seventh behind Nature Strip.

“He’s great, the vet has given him a clean bill of health,’’ Richards

“It was a little bit of torn muscle in his rump.

“He was never comfortable in the Everest, whether he did something jumping, I’m not sure but he never travelled.

“He galloped nicely on Tuesday morning and he’s jumping out of his skin,’’ he said.

Richards said drawing wide on Saturday in barrier 13 in contrast to his inside draw in the Everest could be a blessing.

“After he got crowded up on the fence the other day, I’m happy with him drawing out there,’’ Richards said.

“I think it will map out alright for him.

“There was plenty of pace in this race last year, hopefully it pans out similar again,’’ he said.

Locally Richards gave a push for seven-start maiden Stratisfaction in the opening race at Morphettville.

“We tried him twice at 1400m, but back to 1200m with the blinkers on, he’s probably my best chance,’’ Richards said.
