Lincoln Moore's Bordertown Preview

BEST BET: GHETTO (Race 2)

EACH-WAY: HOLY SANGRIA (Race 6)

VALUE: EXALTED MAXINE (Race 7)

RACE 1 - 12:45PM Bordertown Pumps & Refrigeration Three-Year-Old & Up Distance Maiden Plate (2000 METRES)

Looks GONDOLIER’S race to lose. He has been placed at 11 of 24 starts, five of eight at the 2000m trip and won’t find a better chance to break through than this maiden. He could kick off a big day for the John MacMillan stable. MAVEN MISSILE is certainly the danger after running well behind Samurai Moon two starts back. M’LADY LOIS was placed at Naracoorte recently and looks the third pick in a very average maiden.

SELECTIONS: GONDOLIER, Maven Missile, M’Lady Lois

RACE 2 - 1:20PM Bordertown Haulage Two-Years-Old and Up Maiden Plate (1200 METRES)

A couple of winning hopes here. GHETTO was badly held-up at Balaklava before chasing home Parisienne Monde at Murray Bridge last time. GOGOLF GURU is the danger and has placed at four of 11. He made ground behind Parisienne Monde at Murray Bridge last time and the winner should come out of those two. COSMO ROCK was $2 favourite when third at Penola back in December and has had some specking after opening a big price. TOUCH MY HEART won a Balaklava trial and debuts for Chris Bieg. LIME SPIDER wears blinkers.

SELECTIONS: GHETTO, Gogolf Guru, Cosmo Rock

RACE 3 - 1:55PM Doan Pharmacies Benchmark 58 Handicap (1000 METRES)

Wide open race and not really one horse who you could say can’t win. JUSTA JILLAROO is the one who has been specked in early markets and is a speedy type who is sure to give them something to chase from an inside gate. There doesn’t look a heap of speed drawn her outside and she’s going to be in front for a long way. NANA DULCE won well at Naracoorte last start but faces a tricky task from a wide gate. ATOMIC TEXIE has had some specking at a price and was good winning a Terang maiden in February. LUCIAN is another who draws wide but has been placed at both starts here. FIRST REWARD draws a middle gate and must be respected on three placings at four starts here. ANKARA FOX is a former Queenslander on debut for Jeff Searle. MAGICHELL is now with Travis Doudle and draws a good gate. AVID GENERAL is well up to this race and EIGHT OVER EIGHT is way out of form but could run a forward race.

SELECTIONS: JUSTA JILLAROO, Nana Dolce, Atomic Texie

RACE 4 - 2:30PM Border Ag Benchmark 54 Handicap (1200 METRES)

THE HAITIAN POET beat all but Bullet Kid at Murray Bridge last start and looks hard to beat from an inside draw. The danger could be CENTRE SCOOTA who draws a sticky gate but won well at Kangaroo Island early this preparation and also comes out of the Bullet Kid race at Murray Bridge. MISS ARTIER was placed behind Ranger Cee Jay at Strathalbyn four starts back and her form early this preparation would have her right in the finish here. ANRUSHKA is a winner here beating Attack The Pin over the short 1000m trip in January. SNAPTOF resumed and was a Penola winner back in November and should get a good  gun from gate two with Jacob Opperman riding.

SELECTIONS: THE HAITIAN POET, Centre Scoota, Miss Artier

RACE 5 - 3:05PM Bordertown Stone Supplies Benchmark 68 Handicap (2000 METRES)

EXALTED BEAST looks to have the right form to be winning here. He is a winner for starters, saluting at three of his past five starts, including a win over Plaisir at Murray Bridge last time. The 3YO version of GRINZINGER STAR would be winning here. His latest effort behind Sadente was pretty good and this is a race where he could improve sharply. He looks a backable each-way price. RUNBRO has won two of his past three and he looks right in the mix from the inside gate. FRANKEL STAR wasn’t beaten far behind Going Gaga in a stronger race last time and this is a big drop in class, while getting up in trip. SAN REMO won a recent jumps trial at Warrnambool, beating Zed Em, and had form around Farooq in March.

SELECTIONS: EXALTED BEAST, Grinzinger Star, San Remo

RACE 6 - 3:40PM Tasco Benchmark 58 Handicap (1550 METRES)

HOLY SANGRIA defeated Power Glen at Strathalbyn and was solid enough when runner-up behind Crypto Currency at Murray Bridge last time. She was placed at her only start here and looks right in the mix despite a wide gate. OUR BOY BAILEY has handy Victorian form for a race like this. He could roll forward here and has Todd Pannell. ARMAMANT is over the odds. His form last time in was solid in maiden company before breaking through over 2050m at Strathalbyn. FALLOW improved behind Pale Ale at Balaklava last time, CANIDAE has been around the mark and ran well behind Tubby Two Tracks at Gawler two starts back. BOSS CONI is another who can improve.

SELECTIONS: HOLY SANGRIA, Our Boy Bailey, Armament

RACE 7 - 4:15PM McCarthy Transport Benchmark 68 Handicap (1300 METRES)

EXALTED MAXINE should have won when nailed on the line last time. Her previous form was solid enough and she’ll take some beating back in trip with Ben Price aboard. RUBBLE can run a race here coming out of a handy form race behind Going Gaga at Morphettville. LONGMIRE has been racing well. PEWTER has a good record here with two wins and four placings. SHOCK ALERT is a former NSW galloper who was a good winner at Donald last time. The best version of THIS KID ROCKS would handle these but that hasn’t been seen for some time. CARBONE is another who can figure.

SELECTIONS: EXALTED MAXINE, Rubble, Longmire
