Lincoln Moore's Saturday Preview

BEST BET: TRANSLATION (Race 1)

EACH-WAY: RANTING (Race 6)

VALUE: PELONOMENA (Race 4)

RACE 1 - 11:45AM Without Fear Stakes (formerly Queen Adelaide Stakes) (1050 METRES)

TRANSLATION has speed to burn and was brave behind subsequent winner Cloudy here last time in the Dequetteville. She will take some running down here if she can get across from a wide gate. SEE YOU IN SPRING jumped to the front and was a soft Cranbourne winner on debut and maps to be on speed from gate two. SILENT THEORY won a Benalla trial and must be respected. TOTALLY DISCREET has jumped out well for her debut.

SELECTIONS: TRANSLATION, See You In Spring, Silent Theory

RACE 2 - 12:20PM G.H. Mumm Handicap (1600 METRES)

LORD VLADIVOSTOK hasn’t done much wrong in Australia and won three of four starts before a game run behind Ironclad in the C.S. Hayes on Melbourne Cup Day. He draws out and is short but will take plenty of beating. OH MO was very good beating Echo Boomer two starts back and he had nothing go right in the home straight last time behind France’s Boy. Stable is going well and he looks some value. HASTA LA WAR got going late at his first run back from an injury lay-off. Out to the mile is ideal and he’s a genuine improver here. FRANCE'S BOY maps to get a good run from barrier four.

SELECTIONS: LORD VLADIVOSTOK, Oh Mo, Hasta La War

RACE 3 - 12:55PM D C McKay Stakes (1100 METRES)

PANDEMIC won the Christmas Stakes over 1200m at Caulfield back in December and hasn’t been beaten far in his two latest runs, the latest beaten 4.1 lengths behind Signore Fox at Group 3 level in Sydney. He draws out, but that form looks strong enough for him to win this. Stablemate VIRIDINE comes out of some strong races, running second behind Streets Of Avalon in the Australia Stakes two starts back before running fifth behind Prophet’s Thumb at Caulfield back in February. He finished fourth in this race last year and has strong appeal. SWORD OF MERCY was a Caulfield winner two starts back before chasing home Sisstar in the Bel Esprit Stakes last time. BRIMARVI VEHERO is flying and had a perfect run to beat Lunar Hero last time. STREET LIFE won well at Oakbank and caught the eye late in the Irwin closing off well behind Kemalpasa and could run a cheeky race at odds.

SELECTIONS: PANDEMIC, Viridine, Sword Of Mercy

RACE 4 - 1:30PM Port Adelaide Cup (2500 METRES)

WYCLIF had very good market support, being backed from $3.40 to $2.60 when placed behind Independent Road at Caulfield last time out. He jumps to the 2500m and must be given some thought here. SILENT SOVEREIGN was a good winner at Caulfield over 1400m back in January and was game after leading them up there last time, running second behind Mohican Heights. She has a good record here and must be respected. PELONOMENA is a dual winner over 2400m and maps to get a nice run here from barrier three. REBEL RACER maps well from the good gate with Craig Williams to ride. CONVERGING is another who must be respected with Damian Lane taking the ride. CANFORD is going well and came off a good speed to win back in class last time.

SELECTIONS: WYCLIF, Silent Sovereign, Pelonomena

RACE 5 - 2:05PM Queen Of The South Stakes (1600 METRES)

IN GOOD HEALTH is a quality mare who was favourite when fourth behind Quantum Mechanic in the Group 2 Sunline Stakes at Moonee Valley last time. All her recent form has been at Group level, she’ll get a perfect run from an inside gate and is the one to beat. FABRIC has a good record and was runner-up behind Missile Mantra last time. The step from 1200m to the mile looks ideal. SHOP TIL I DROP was very good first-up from a long break when she charged late behind Surreal Image. That was her first run for 18 month and she’s going to strip a lot fitter. She has two wins and two seconds from four starts here and maps to get a gun run. THOUSAND WISHES was good when winning at Caulfield last time out while LUNAKORN caught the eye making good ground in the same race. ROBE BAY was very good here last time when she bombed the start and made good ground but this is a step up in class. ECHO BOOMER is flying and hasn’t done much wrong.

SELECTIONS: IN GOOD HEALTH, Fabric, Shop Til I Drop

RACE 6 - 2:45PM TAB Tobin Bronze Stakes (formerly Euclase Stakes) (1200 METRES)

RANTING comes here out of some hot races in Victoria and won the G3 Blue Sapphire Stakes four runs back, beating Blue Diamond winner Hanseatic. He was only beaten 2.7 lengths in the Group 1 Oakleigh Plate two starts back before carrying 61.5kg and never appearing comfortable on the inside in the Incognitus Stakes last time. BEAU ROSSA is a very smart local who was impressive winning at Sandown and had his nose in front a stride before and after the line at Caulfield last time. He’s back to the 1200m and perfectly drawn. LITCHFIELD COUNTY was very good when making ground from the back of the field behind Muntaseera in the Redelva and that looks a strong pointer for this – plus Damien Oliver rides. MINHAAJ was very good in the Redelva, making ground from a long way back. OCEAN BEYOND is unbeaten in two runs and comes here fresh after winning the Listed McKenzie Stakes at Moonee Valley back in November. He maps to get a gun run and is sure to give this a shake. MALICORNE has been runner-up in G3 and G2 races at her past two in Melbourne and must be respected despite a sticky gate. MILEVA was impressive two starts back and ran well in the Redelva. Likewise SMOKIN’ VAL was huge in the Redelva but draws out.

SELECTIONS: RANTING, Beau Rossa, Litchfield County

RACE 7 - 3:25PM TAB Classic (registered as Robert Sangster Stakes) (1200 METRES)

Only a couple here that can’t win. I am leaning towards BROOKLYN HUSTLE at the price. She should have won the Oakleigh Plate three starts back and her next two runs were solid behind Zoutori in the Newmarket and then chasing home Masked Crusader in the William Reid. I think drawing out wide could be advantageous to her chances with the rail back in the true and if she is close enough on the corner can get over the top of rivals. She just needs a genuine tempo. MUNTASEERA was impressive when weaving between horses in the Redelva. She draws out but is sure to again be right in the finish. INSTANT CELEBRITY was only OK first-up in the Redelva, but the money suggests she’s taken plenty of benefit from the run. She maps well from barrier six but does need to lift. RUBISAKI is another who has loads of talent and maps to get a gun run here. She was doing her best work late behind Sisstar last time and this race has been the target this campaign. NIGHT RAID has been set for this and she was impressive here on Cup Day, winning the Matrice Stakes. She was wound up for this when winning a recent Echuca trial. SISSTAR is going super and comes off a Bel Esprit win. She appears the race leader where there isn’t a lot of pressure and could take some gunning down. MIZZY maps to get a good run throughout from the inside and has strong Sydney form, running second behind Krone in the Coolmore two starts back. SUBPOENAED was a Group 2 winner in the Millie Fox two runs back.

SELECTIONS: BROOKLYN HUSTLE, Rubisaki, Instant Celebrity, Muntaseera

RACE 8 - 4:05PM Australasian Oaks (2000 METRES)

Another very open race where only a couple of them can’t win. STEINEM maps to get a vastly different run here then she did in the Auraria Stakes when she tracked into the race well but just couldn’t reel in rivals wide out. She should get a soft run on what looks to be a genuine speed and her turn of foot could prove the deciding factor late in the race. PERSONAL is a class filly who already has an Oaks win to her name and she’ll be a big improver here after chasing home Hungry Heart in the Vinery Stakes last time out. Drawing wide could play into her hands, especially if there is a genuine tempo. TOKORANGI has very good form back in NZ, beating the boys in the Waikato Guineas two runs back before a solid run in the NZ Derby last time. Back in trip looks ideal and she draws to get a perfect run just behind the speed. BROOKSPIRE was solid when winning at Caulfield last time. AMERICAN ANGEL was a real eye-catcher when charging home in that race. Getting out to 2000m looks ideal for her and Damian Lane goes on. RIPPER RITA was too good for Beau Rossa at Caulfield last time and should appreciate getting out in trip. HELA is unbeaten and is sure to make her own luck on speed from a good gate. This is by far the toughest test she has faced but her form is impossible to overlook. CHICA FUERTE should be handy from the barrier and was a Group 3 winner two starts back. LLANACORD is another Kiwi with a good record and she was placed in the NZ Oaks two runs back. FLEXIBLE comes out of some strong races in Sydney. ECUMENICAL is a smart local who was brave last time but has to overcome a sticky gate. TYCHE GODDESS maps well and was strong through the line winning the Auraria last time.

SELECTIONS: STEINEM, Personal, Tokorangi

RACE 9 - 4:40PM Bill Spear OAM Memorial Handicap (1200 METRES)

EUPHORIC SUMMER looks well suited here second up, after getting through the line well at Cranbourne when fourth as favourite last start. She ran OK here in Listed level last year in the Lightning Stakes and had specking in the Quezette Stakes at her next run. She has strong claims in a race like this. LADY DUNMORE had a good run before spearing through to defeat He’s A Balter last time and must be respected here despite an awkward barrier. OUR DEEP AGENDA was racing very well last time in work and chased home Pindaric before a break. He should get a gun run from a good barrier. WIDE AWAKE was a Strathalbyn winner on debut for Will Clarken, looks to have upside and can figure in a race like this despite a wide gate. AMBIDAZZLE ran well behind Mister Yu Shu last week and has claims. BARACONI was very good behind Beau Rossa two runs back and she maps to get a nice run just behind them.

SELECTIONS: EUPHORIC SUMMER, Lady Dunmore, Our Deep Agenda
