Lincoln Moore's Saturday Preview

BEST BET: LUNAR HERO (Race 4)

EACH-WAY: HYPERCANE (Race 9)

VALUE: SELF SUFFICENT (Race 2)

RACE 1 - 12:31PM Fleurieu Milk Company Handicap (1100 METRES)

Good race. BROTHER’S SHADOW is two from two and was a touch too seasoned for Karacasu last time. He has to overcome a sticky gate but it’s impossible to knock what he’s done, plus he gets blinkers for the first time. The extra 100m here should suit KARACASU, who was strong late when taking good ground off Brother’s Shadow. He is also drawn a touch awkward but is a nice type with a future. AUDREY GIRL was sent out favourite at Bendigo on debut and ran well last time behind Irish Mist at Cranbourne. She maps to get a good run here. TAGOMAGO led when third at Bendigo on debut and must be given some thought here, while TAVIKAT ran well on debut behind Champagne Dream.

SELECTIONS: BROTHER’S SHADOW, Karacasu, Audrey Girl

RACE 2 - 1:11PM Terry Howe Printing Three-Year-Old Maiden Plate (1050 METRES)

Open race and that’s reflected in the market. JONQUEST was good first-up from a spell, taking ground off Virtue, and his form in his first campaign was solid, running second behind Shojiki and Frankie Pinto. He is drawn awkwardly but looks value each-way. Stablemate VANCOUVER VELVET was good last campaign, chasing home Quietly Discreet and Deep Speed. He draws a tricky barrier but is a horse with some upside and has jumped out well. SELF SUFFICIENT gets the blinkers for the first time here. He showed ability with a slashing debut and was doing his best work late behind Gaze Grise last time. YULONG HERO wasn’t beaten far first-up in SA behind Zero Inn on the Parks track and should appreciate getting out to the more spacious Morphettville. PARISIENNE MONDE is an interesting horse. She has jumped out three times and looked good in her latest at Murray Bridge. They were all for Matt Seyers and she debuts in the Stokes stable. SPARKUP has been placed at his past four, the latest behind Virtue on the Parks track and he draws to get a nice run from the inside. ZAKHEERA was heavily tried last time behind Virtue at Morphettville first-up and had trialled well prior. He looks well over the odds. Stablemate WHO RUNS THE WORLD has been placed at four of eight and must be respected here on the back of an Oakbank trial win. KUNGKA MARU has had some specking and her past three runs have been OK.

SELECTIONS: JONQUEST, Self Sufficient, Parisienne Monde

RACE 3 - 1:51PM Autumn Racing Carnival at Morphettville May 1st-15th Handicap (1600 METRES)

ZOIST is lightly raced and was good when beating stablemate Spectacle on the Parks track last time. Barend Vorster has opted for stablemate The Brumby, but Todd Pannell and barrier two ticks a lot of boxes in another very open race. CROWN MINT has been solid in all three runs back from a spell and made good late ground behind Struck By in the Guineas last time out. He draws a nice gate and has solid each-way appeal. THE BRUMBY has been specked early. He did his best work late behind Echoes In Eternity at Morphettville and should appreciate getting out to the mile. MORTY is a progressive type who ran a slashing race behind Casino Seventeen last time. ROYAL MILE comes to town and hasn’t finished further back than second in all five runs. He’ll get a nice run from the inside gate. BELLINGER brings some solid Victorian form over the border and was a good Sandown winner two runs back. EXALTED FIRE ran well in the Guineas before winning back in class at Balaklava and is a progressive type.

SELECTIONS: ZOIST, Crown Mint, Morty

RACE 4 - 2:31PM Holdfast Insurance Handicap (Heat 3 SA Sprint Series) (1050 METRES)

LUNAR HERO was game behind Esta La Rocca at Moonee Valley two starts back before scoring a five-length Echuca win back in December impressively. He draws a tricky gate but should be able to make his own luck early and is sure to take plenty of running down. WRITE ENUFF has won just the two races but has been placed eight times from 18 starts and was runner-up at Moonee Valley behind Forever Free. His latest at Cranbourne was OK and he’s worth some thought. Port Lincoln galloper CENTREFIELD hasn’t done a lot wrong and stuck on well behind Larkham on the Parks last week. She’ll get a good run and has each-way claims. CHAMPAGNE AFFAIR was a Balaklava winner before a break and had strong market support first-up from a break. HUFFINGTON draws a nice barrier and must be respected in  race like this.

SELECTIONS: LUNAR HERO, Write Enuff, Centrefield

RACE 5 - 3:11PM White Marquee Handicap (2019 METRES)

FAROOQ has the right form line for this. His effort behind Tralee Rose in the Lord Reims was solid and he then sat just off a genuine speed to win smartly at Edenhope. His win four starts back at Murray Bridge was dominant and he can win again with the help of a 3kg claim for Jacob Opperman. BRAMFIELD is a handy mare who probably should have won the Port Lincoln Cup before making amends there last time in the Kimba Cup on the back of a brilliant Todd Pannell ride. She’ll get a nice run and should be in the finish. DREAMED has always been a handy mare and she really found the line well behind Exalted Beast on the Parks track last week. Out in trip appeals and her best would see her right in the finish here. ANALYTICA hasn’t done much wrong in all three Port Lincoln runs. He gave Bramfield a ride home when she was too good last time and has claims here.

SELECTIONS: FAROOQ, Bramfield, Dreamed

RACE 6 - 3:51PM Furphy Handicap (Heat 3 Autumn Series) (1200 METRES)

Very open race. LADY PAVLI CHENKO comes off a very good run up in class behind Night Raid in the Matrice Stakes. She was very good behind Pindaric three starts back and some key scratchings here will see her get her chance. GLORY GAME maps very well from barrier three and finished off strongly last time. RHODE SCHOLAR was tested in G3 company at the end of his last campaign and he worked home OK first-up at Cranbourne. The blinkers go on and he’s in very good hands. ZERO INN was good winning on debut despite no market support but is worth some thought. COTILLION and LA VITA should both get good runs and look over the odds. GALCRUM is another who draws a nice gate.

SELECTIONS: LADY PAVLI CHENKO, Rhode Scholar, Glory Game

RACE 7 - 4:31PM Manihi Classic (1100 METRES)

LYRE is a class mare who won the Blue Diamond as a 2YO. Her two runs here have been excellent, running second in last year’s Sangster and third in the G1 Goodwood. Her form in the spring was solid but she does have 60kg to contend with and hasn’t won for a long time. HUMMA HUMMA looks the obvious danger. She has won two of six here and was hitting the line strongly first-up behind Fabergino in the Bob Hoysted at Flemington. She maps well from gate three. CALYPSO REIGN has plenty of upside and won very smartly first-up from a break at Murray Bridge, before hitting the line well behind Little Rich Boy last time. She should get a nice run from a good gate. GARNER was only fair behind Night Raid on Adelaide Cup Day, while stablemate BOLD STAR is much better than last start when down the track behind Zoutori in the Newmarket Hcp.

SELECTIONS: LYRE, Humma Humma, Calypso Reign

RACE 8 - 5:07PM Clare Lindop Stakes (1600 METRES)

Very open race for the 3YO fillies. The Freedman-trained PERFECT WORLD comes out of a strong form race where she made ground behind Starelle at Flemington. The runner-up has won since and she must be given plenty of thought from a good gate with Todd Pannell and the blinkers going on. VICTORIA QUAY was very good last campaign, winning the G2 Wakeful Stakes at Flemington. She was soft in the market first-up behind Struck By in the Guineas here and draws wide but has a touch of class. ANOTHER AWARD draws to get a lovely run in the race and she doesn’t run too many bad races. Her Guineas run behind Struck By was solid and she won’t be far away. ECUMENICAL is a good filly who was only fair first-up from a spell behind Echoes In Eternity here on Cup Day but looms as an improver here. VALANETTI won an Echuca maiden as a short-priced favourite and ran well in the Sandown Guineas when third behind Allibor. She was OK first-up at Cranbourne and should appreciate getting out to the mile. SCREAM DREAM has a good record and looked good beating Falls at Pakenham. This is a step up again but he draws perfectly. BIARCHI is a promising local filly who looks ready to fire. She finished off strongly behind Casino Seventeen last time but might be looking for even further than the mile.

SELECTIONS: PERFECT WORLD, Victoria Quay, Another Award

RACE 9 - 5:45PM TAB Handicap (1600 METRES)

Wide open race to end the day and I’m happy to stay with HYPERCANE, who was doing his best work late behind Viduka here on Adelaide Cup Day. He jumps from 1200m out to the mile and has solid each-way appeal, having chased home the likes of Persan last campaign. GOOD GIRL BELLA is a promising mare who won three on end before nothing went right at Murray Bridge where she never saw daylight. She can bounce back from a sticky gate. CALL ME SHAMUS faces a nightmare draw but has won two of his past five and was only beaten two lengths behind Heir Of Tavistock last start. SOARING EAGLE was a Pakenham winner three starts back and was then beaten less than a length at Sandown behind Mistress Molly. He should get a nice run from barrier seven.

SELECTIONS: HYPERCANE, Good Girl Bella, Call Me Shamus
