Six rivals to tackle Behemoth in Durbridge

DualGroup 1 winner Behemoth will have just six rivals in Saturdays $102,250 Durbridge Stakes (1100m) at Morphettville.

The All-Star Mile hopeful is having his first run since finishing 11th behind Classique Legend in the $15m Everest at Royal Randwick in October and will jump from barrier five with Todd Pannell in the saddle.

He will clash with Richard and Chantelle Jolly’s pair of All-Star Mile nominated horses in Kemalpasa and Regalo Di Gaetano.

Kemalpasa dew perfectly in barrier two with Jake Toeroek to ride, while Caitlin Jones will partner Regalo Di Gaetano, who drew next door in gate three.

Kemalpasa enjoyed a big end to his spring campaign, winning the Group 2 Linlithgow Stakes at Flemington for a second successive year before going to Sandown and winning the Heffernan Stakes over 1300m.

Likewise Regalo Di Gaetano enjoyed a solid campaign, running third in the Murray Bridge Cup before winning the inaugural John Letts Cup at Morphettville over 1800m.

The interesting runner is Superhard, who was formerly with Lindsay Smith and is now trained at Broken Hill by Michael Wayman.

Phillip Stokes has impressive last-start Morphettville winner Symphonette engaged while quality six-year-old Amberdi resumes in the race following a solid Adelaide Carnival last year. Amberdi finished fast to run fourth in the Group 1 Sangster Stakes behind Bella Vella before running ninth in the Goodwood behind Trekking.

Behemoth opened a $1.35 favourite with tab.com.au from Kemalpasa ($4), with Amberdi on the third line of betting at $12.
