David Jolly continued his outstanding 2020 when Trip claimed the $100,000 Viddora Series Final at Morphettville on Saturday.
Jolly has enjoyed three Group 1 wins, two as a trainer with Behemoth and one as an part-owner of sprinting mare Bella Vella in Group 1 Sangster Stakes at Morphettville in May, before Trip made it three wins in succession.
It was another bold front running win by the mare who is taken her racing to another level since coming to Adelaide. She held off a fast finishing Dazzling Damsel to score by 0.2 lengths.
Jessica Eaton’s successful season continued with yet another riding treble and put a two-win gap on rivals in the Adelaide Jockey Premiership, while good mates Jason Holder and Jake Toeroek walked away with doubles.
Tony and Calvin McEvoy claimed training honours winning the opening two races with Renegade and You Hadme At Hello.
It was a big 16 hours for the stable, they claimed the last race at Moonee Valley on Friday night when Hey Doc gave South Australia more Group 1 success in the Manikato Stakes before they won the first two races in Adelaide on Saturday.
It was a superb effort from Hey Doc who was trained to the minute claiming a second Manikato victory in track record time.
And it was perfect placement by the Tony and Calvin McEvoy stable who had the eight-year-old peaking at the right time to claim his fourth Group 1 success and his second Manikato victory after winning in three years earlier.
“He was dad’s first Group 1 winner as the McEvoy Mitchell brand, my first Group 1 winner in partnership with dad, it’s a big team effort,’’ Calvin McEvoy said.
“It’s been a target form a long way out it’s unbelievable. Not many horses win four,’’ he said.
And it was a memorable day at Port Lincoln on Sunday where up and coming apprentice Maggie Collett who landed her first riding treble.
Collett rode Miss Elegance to victory for Gary Searle, Chuckles for Michael Cornell while Social Media completed her big day out.
