Golf Talk with Dom Tourneur

With the SA National Jockey's Trust Golf Day just a few weeks away, we have a chat with golf tragic and Group 1 winning jockey, Dom Tourneur.

Q: What handicap are you playing off at the moment?

A: I'm playing off about 11 or 12

Q: Where are you a member?

A: Flagstaff Hill Golf Club

Q: How many times would you play per week?

A: Probably 2-3 time a week. I usually play Monday and Friday and the occasional Thursday. I know a lot of the members out there and have a good group I regularly play with.

Q: What's your favourite course you've played?

A: Kooyonga. It's nice and lush and has a great layout. It's just a really nice course to play a round at.

Q: What do you love about golf?

A: It's good stress relief and is also a great challenge of your own self. It's a great game to keep challenging and improving yourself. You're not really playing against anyone, it's you versus yourself really.

Q: Do you have a favourite professional golfer?

A: I have a few! I like Rickie Fowler. He's a great ambassador for the game and has really helped bring youth into the game and opened it to a range of younger viewers. Tiger Woods made the game what it is now and Henrik Stenson is just such a great ball striker to watch.

Q: What do you love about the NJT Golf Day?

A: It's such a great event where us jockeys and the public can get together for a chat and a laugh and support a fantastic cause.

Q: What would you say to anyone who is thinking about getting a team together?

A: Get involved and have a go! It's such a great all round day. It's not just about the golf, it's about the day as a whole. It's also a great opportunity for the public to have a chat to us jockeys and fire questions at us!

This year's SA National Jockey's Trust Golf Day will be held on Monday 20 November at the Glenelg Golf Club.

Cost for a team is $1,000 per team of four or $250 per head.
