Eigelstein Eyes Another Outback Cup

The Kylie Mckerlie trained Eigelstein is lining up for his fifth start in an Outback Cup this season as he aims to add another win to his name in Saturday’s Quorn Cup.

Eigelstein won the Roxby Downs Cup in August with Kayla Crowther on board and the two will combine again on Saturday.

Eigelstein is currently coming second in the Outback Cups Series behind It’s Fred. A win in Saturday’s feature would see him take the lead in the series with one race to go, the Jamestown Cup at the end of the month.

In-form hoop, Krystal Bishop will ride Sassy Jo in the Cup, who has had a good couple runs on the sand recently with a last start win at Port Augusta.

Overstreet and Ashley Doyle combined for a win at Port Augusta in July over the 1900m and will be hoping to repeat that result on Saturday.

Eight-year-old gelding Deduct is a new addition to the Helen Gower stable just in time for the Quorn Cup. While he hasn’t won since 2014, he does have two placings from two runs over 1900m.

The Quorn Cup was last run in 2014 when the Rob Wilkinson trained Magic Niello won the feature by two lengths for apprentice Rian Mageean.
