SeaLink increases support for Kangaroo Island races

Thoroughbred Racing SA has further strengthened its relationship with SeaLink, today announcing a new partnership as naming rights sponsor for the Kangaroo Island Racing Club (KIRC).

The new three-year agreement builds on a 25-year relationship between the KIRC and SeaLink, which has previously provided significant funding and support to the Kangaroo Island Cup Carnival.

The SeaLink sponsorship will see the Club receive substantial support including ferry travel and marketing, to ensure the continued success of the Carnival. SeaLink support greatly assists trainers in the transporting of their horses to the island so they can compete in the Cup Carnival.

KIRC President Mark Turner said the Club was extremely grateful for SeaLink’s sponsorship.

“We have enjoyed a long and close partnership with SeaLink who have been outstanding supporters of the Club and the island Racing Carnival for over 25 years,” he said.

“To have SeaLink become the naming rights sponsor of our great Carnival is testament to the strength of the local racing industry here on Kangaroos Island.”

SeaLink, known to most as the ferry operator between mainland South Australia and Kangaroo Island, is part of the SeaLink Travel Group. Now Australia’s largest marine transport and Tourism Company, SeaLink still calls South Australia home, with its head office located in Adelaide.

“We are delighted to formalise our long-standing commitment to the Club and the community here on Kangaroo Island with this sponsorship,” SeaLink SA General Manager Donna Gauci said.

“SeaLink is very supportive of events being held on Kangaroo Island because they give people another reason to visit and helps boost the island’s economy.”

The SeaLink Kangaroo Island Racing Carnival will be held at the Cygnet River Racetrack, Kingscote from Thursday February 16 to Saturday February 18. The main race day will be held on the Saturday and the race program will feature the Dudley Wines KI Cup.

The Kangaroo Island Racing Club will be offering a Kangaroo Island Cup Marquee Long Lunch Package on Saturday February 18 which includes racetrack entry, race book, 4-course lunch and Dudley Wines.

The trackside marquee will also have private bookmaker facilities and TV screens.  Bookings for the Kangaroo Island Cup Marquee Lunch can be made with SeaLink. Day packages from Adelaide, Cape Jervis, Penneshaw and American River are also available with and without the Long Lunch inclusion.
